SembUtilities formed and took a 30% stake in Shanghai Caojing Cogeneration Company to build, own and operate a S$725 million 605-megawatt cogeneration plant in the Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park. Once completed, this will be the largest combined cycle gas turbine cogeneration power plant in China.

SembUtilities expanded its presence to Europe with a £87.2 million (S$244.2 million) strategic acquisition of the assets and business of Enron Teesside Operations. The business now operating through SembCorp Utilities UK (formerly SembCorp Utilities Teesside) establishes SembUtilities as the world’s leading and largest centralised utilities provider in the process industry sector.
